WILL of the patient + SKILL of the physician

“Cancer patients who participate in their fight for recovery
along with their physicians and health care professionals
may enhance the possibility of their recovery
and probably will improve the quality of their lives.”
-Harold H. Benjamin, Ph.D.
‘Guide to Fighting for Recovery from Cancer’

The Patient Active Concept believes in combining the will of the patient with the skill of the physician.  It is designed to help the patients fight for their recovery along with their physicians and other health care professionals, in the expectation that such activity will probably improve the quality of their lives and the hope that it will enhance the possibility of recovery.

“A person who sees him or herself as a “Patient Active” is someone who considers themselves part of the fight for recovery along with their physicians and health care team. A Patient Active also adopts a series of actions, behaviors and attitudes that will improve the quality of his or her life and may enhance the possibility of recovery.” (Source: CSC Pasadena)

It is the belief of Project Pink that together, we can keep cancer from spreading. Not only do we not want it to stop from invading other parts of our lives, but by being Patient Active we can keep cancer from invading our hearts, minds and souls.

All methods in this curriculum are designed to limit the number, duration and intensity of unpleasant emotions and maximize the number, duration and intensity of pleasant emotions and thus keep cancer of any stage at Stage Zero.

“[This] is not about coping with cancer, learning to live with cancer, making the best of it, or dying from it. It’s about fighting to recover, and if possible, recovering and enjoying life to the fullest while fighting.”
